A scientific article titled "First records of Coleroa robertiani and Sporocadus rosigena (Ascomycota) from the South Caucasus," co-authored by Professor Dilzara Agayeva, Head of the Mycology Laboratory at the Institute of Botany PLE of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, doctoral student Khadija Apbayeva, Doctor of Philosophy in Biology Parvin Agayeva, and Tetiana Andrianova, a researcher and Doctor of Philosophy in Biology at the Institute of Botany PLE of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, has been published in the Q4-quartile journal "Czech Mycology," indexed in Scopus.

 

The article notes that representatives of the genera Coleroa and Sporocadus, which are associated with plants, have been poorly studied in Azerbaijan, and species previously assigned to them have now been transferred to different genera. Herbarium specimens of the above-mentioned species were collected from the villages of Amirvar and Zivlan in the Dashkasan district. Based on these specimens, the publication provides detailed morphological descriptions and illustrations, indicates their global distribution and host plants, and analyzes and discusses the features that distinguish them from similar species.

 

These findings underscore the role of the South Caucasus as a biodiversity hotspot as a whole, and also support its importance for the global assessment of fungal diversity and ecology.
