On September 18, at a meeting of Dissertation Council FD 1.26 operating under the Institute of Botany PLE of the Ministry of Science and Education , Fadai Fakhraddin oglu Alakbarov defended his dissertation entitled "Lichens and Bryophytes of the Korchay State Nature Reserve and Their Indicator Properties." The dissertation was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, in the specialty 2417.01 – "Botany."

 

The scientific supervisor of the dissertation is Vagif Novruzov, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, and Corresponding Member of ANAS.

 

The official opponents were Anvar Ibrahimov, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor; Aygun Mammadova, Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, Associate Professor; and Mahila Shahmuradova, Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, Associate Professor.

 

The candidate gave council members detailed information on the relevance of the topic, the aims and objectives of the dissertation, the scientific novelty of the work, and the results obtained.

 

The dissertation was widely discussed. The candidate answered the council members' questions and responded to the opponents' recommendations and comments.

 

Based on the results of the electronic vote, the council decided to submit a petition to the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to award Fadai Alakbarov the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Biology.
