The event dedicated to March 1 - World Civil Defense Day was held at the Institute of Botany of ANAS on March 2017.
     Dr. Eldar Novruzov, director deputy on the scientific affairs of the Institute opened the event and gave broad information on the history, aim and duties of World Civil Defense Day. He noted that the Republic of Azerbaijan is a member of the International Civil Defense Organization since 1993.
     Nazim Khalilov, head of the CD headquarter of the Institute made a speech on the “The Defense Role against Civil Defense Disasters”. He also spoke about the activities of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the protection of people against emergency cases and civil defense, focusing on the aim, organization principles of civil defense, the duties of the state, juridical persons, the rights and duties of the citizen in the field of civil defense. He noted that the main task of Civil Defense is to inform the public about any mass threats that may occur, distribute them personal protection equipment and place in safe shelters.
     At the event, members of the civil defense team of the organization demonstrated their skills they have to implement in order to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, industrial accidents and emergencies.
