The leaders and specialists of ANAS and MENR held a round table

On the initiative of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (MENR) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a round table was held at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of ANAS on the continuation of the autumn sowing season due to the softening of the weather in the country due to climatic changes, clarification of the timing of planting green spaces in the framework of landscaping activities, the dependence of tree planting on soil and climatic conditions.

The round table was attended by Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Firdovsi Aliyev, head department of the ministry, employees of subordinate structures (Forest Development and Hydrometeorology Service), Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Irada Huseynova, heads and scientists of the Institute of Botany, Institute of Microbiology and the Central Botanical Garden.

Opening the event, Academician Irada Huseynova expressed satisfaction with the consistent development of scientific ties between ANAS and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources in recent years. According to her, the third edition of Azerbaijan's "Red Book" and the agreements on the Caspian Sea have become important steps in this direction. She brought to attention that the liberation of native Karabakh from the Armenian occupiers gave a new impetus and strength to cooperation and joint activities of organizations. Academician Irada Huseynova said that another issue for joint activities is related to landscaping and reforestation.

In his speech, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Firdovsi Aliyev expressed solidarity with acad. Irada Huseynova on mutually discussed issues. He spoke about the importance of the work done by the ministry in recent years, informed the participants about the reforestation activities in the country, noting that over 1 million trees were planted across the country at the initiative and with the support of the IDEA Public Union.

Then scientists and experts who participated in the event made presentations on the topic under discussion and exchanged views.

During the event, it was decided to create a Working Group consisting of representatives of both sides on this issue, and as soon as possible to make a statement and proposals.
