A meeting of the Presidium of ANAS was held

On February 2, the next meeting of the Presidium of ANAS was held.

The meeting was attended by the President of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev, other members of the Presidium - academicians Arif Hashimov, Isa Habibbeyli , Ibrahim Guliyev, Dilgam Tagiyev, Tofik Nagiev, Irada Huseynova, Rasim Aliguliyev, Govhar Bakhshalieva, Fikret Aliyev, Adil Garibov, Ismayil Hajiyev, as well as the head of the Presidium of ANAS, Doctor of philosophy in philology, Associate Professor Seyfal Hasanov, the head of the Secretariat of the President of ANAS, Doctor of philosophy in political sciences Eldar Amirov, Director of Lankaran Regional Scientific Center of ANAS, doctor of agrarian sciences Farman Guliyev, Director of Sheki Regional Scientific Center of ANAS, PhD in Physics, Associate Professor Yusif Shukurlu and relevant persons.

At the event, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev presented the award of academician Mammad Salmanov, awarded with “Honorary Diploma of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan” by the Order of the Head of state dated January 11, 2022 and the Honorary Diploma of ANAS, as well as the Honorary Diploma of ANAS to corresponding member of ANAS Elmar Gasimov on the occasion of his 60th anniversary.

Then, at the meeting, the report on scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the Division of Earth Sciences of ANAS for 2021 was heard. Deputy chairman of the Scientific council of the Division, academician Fakhraddin Gadirov, who presented the report, said that in 2021, the section covered 14 problems, 48 topics, 53 scientific-research works, 21 stages and 14 works were completed. According to the academician, 12 important results were obtained in scientific institutions of the Division of Earth Sciences, 1 important results were obtained in scientific research, educational and field institutions that are not included in the Division.

The speaker emphasized that 217 articles (75 abroad), 100 theses (32 abroad), 10 monographs, 9 books and 23 textbooks were published in the reporting year. Of the 75 articles published in the section, 46 of them have been published in impact factor journals included in the database of “Web of Science”.

Speaking about the implementation of the tasks given by the decision of the general meeting of ANAS dated may 27, 2021, academician Fakhraddin Gadirov spoke about the work carried out in the reporting year within the framework of the joint project of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS, the USA University of Missouri and the Ukrainian Science and Technology Center “the Caucasus section”.

Academician said that priority scientific research to be carried out in the Division of Earth Sciences was determined and approved by the relevant decision of the Presidium of ANAS.

After listening to the report, discussions were held around the speech.

Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev noted that the employees of the Division have a strong potential and important researches were carried out by them in the reporting year and gave relevant instructions.

After discussions, the activities of the Division of Earth Sciences in 2021 were considered satisfactory.

The next issue discussed at the meeting was about the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of the Lankaran Regional Scientific Center of ANAS for 2021. Director of the center, doctor of agrarian sciences Farman Guliyev noted that in 2021, scientific research was carried out on the basis of 2 problems, 6 topics (3 fundamental and 3 applied), 4 topics and 4 works were completed.

Further, the scientist reported that in 2021, joint research with the Institute of Botany was conducted in the vicinity of Qamisovka, Ashagi and Yuxari Nuvadi, Liman villages of the Lankaran District, 22 rare species were registered in the forest ecosystems of the district (4 species of grasses, 1 type of shrub and liana, the rest - tree species).

Farman Guliyev also noted that during the archaeological research conducted jointly with the staff of the Institute of Archaeology, Ethnography and Anthropology of ANAS in the territory of the Astara District, new rock carvings considered rare for the region were discovered in the village of Sim and in the village of Mistan of the Lerik District – 5 new large and medium-sized mounds, which presumably belong to the Late Bronze and Early Iron period.

Later, discussions were held around the report and the activities of the center in 2021 were considered satisfactory and relevant decisions were made.

Members of the Presidium of ANAS – academicians Arif Hashimov, Ibrahim Guliyev, Irada Huseynova, Rasim Aliguliyev, Govhar Bakhshaliyeva, Fikret Aliyev and Adil Garibov made their remarks and suggestions.

At the event, the Action Plan of ANAS on the declaration of 2022 as the “Year of Shusha” in the Republic of Azerbaijan was approved, as well as a decision was made on the 100th anniversary of Doctor of historical sciences Mammadali Huseynov.

Partial changes were made in the staff structure of the Presidium of ANAS. By the decision of the Presidium Azade Balayeva was appointed Press Secretary of the Presidium of ANAS.

Then, speaking at the meeting, the Acting First Vice-President of ANAS, academician Arif Hashimov recalled the Order of the Head of state “On the Presidential Award for Youth in 2022” dated February 1, 2022 and said that Lala Akhundova, a junior researcher of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, was awarded this award. He also said that 2 young scientists were awarded with the prize of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of AR, and 2-with the prize of Yasamal District executive power and Yasamal District Organization Of New Azerbaijan Party.

Head of the Presidium of ANAS, PhD in philology, Associate Professor Seyfal Hasanov spoke about the measures to combat coronavirus at the Academy and voiced relevant proposals.

At the end, the head of ANAS presented a reference to the funds received by scientific institutions and organizations in 2020-2021 to the Innovation Fund of the Academy and concluded the meeting.
