Academician Arif Hashimov met with scientists of the Division of Social Sciences

On April 6, at the Institute of Oriental Studies, the Acting President of ANAS, academician Arif Hashimov held the next meeting with the general directors, executive directors and scientific secretaries of the scientific institutions of the Division of Social Sciences of the Academy.

Opening the event, academician Arif Hashimov brought to the attention that on April 1, 2022, the decision was adopted by the Presidium on “İmproving the structure of scientific departments of ANAS and the Presidium of ANAS” based on the proposals given during the meetings with the scientific community of the 6 sections of ANAS. He noted that the proposals and the above-mentioned decision will play an important role in the optimization of management and structure, as well as the protection of scientific potential and scientific achievements in the Academy in the coming years.

Then, speaking at the event, voiced their proposals: acting vice-president of ANAS, director of the Institute of Oriental Studies named after academician Ziya Bunyadov, academician Govhar Bakhshaliyeva, general director of the Institute of History of Science, doctor of historical sciences, professor Maryam Seyidbeyli, general director of the Institute of Archeology, Ethnography and Anthropology, doctor of historical sciences, professor Abbas Seyidov, executive director of the Institute of Law and Human Rights, PhD in economics Fuad Huseynov, general director of the Institute of Economics, doctor of economics, professor Nazim Imanov and executive director of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, doctor of historical sciences Eynulla Madatli . The proposals include evaluation of talented staff, creation of AR Museum of Science, restoration of regional centers of the Institute of Archeology, Ethnography and Anthropology, revision of the mechanism of financing archaeological expeditions, formation of a laboratory in the Academy for chemical spectral analysis, self-financing mechanism of scientific journals, in coordination with the State Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Work with the Diaspora, the expansion of relations with Azerbaijani scientists living abroad, the organization of joint events with them, etc. is carried out..

Making a speech on the proposals, academician Arif Hashimov said that, in accordance with the decree of the head of state “On ensuring coordination in the field of innovative development in the Republic of Azerbaijan”, the Cabinet of Ministers approved “The procedure for researchers to use the research infrastructure owned by the state or created at the expense of state funds”. According to him, these documents determine the procedure for the use of researchers from the research infrastructure owned by the state or created at the expense of public funds. Academician Arif Hashimov brought to the attention that, based on the opportunities provided by the above-mentioned documents, it is planned to hold a meeting at the Presidium on the possibility of conducting research in Azerbaijan using the available equipment with the participation of relevant specialists.

Academician Arif Hashimov also said that our scientists living abroad will participate in the General Meeting of ANAS, which is scheduled for April 27 and the final event on March 27-Science Day will be held within the framework of the meeting. He noted that the celebration of the day of Science within the framework of the general meeting will allow our compatriots living abroad to get acquainted with the conditions created in Azerbaijan, as well as give an incentive to hold this significant day in the country where they live and form a tradition.

Speaking later at the event, the head of the Division of International Scientific Cooperation of the Presidium of ANAS, PhD in Biology, Associate Professor Esmira Alirzayeva noted that in 2020 the Presidium of Academy decided to establish an Association of Scientists of Azerbaijani Origin working abroad in ANAS to establish scientific ties with our compatriots working in a number of prestigious scientific and educational institutions, centers of the world, the targeted use of their scientific potential and rich experience. She noted that currently the Scientific Diaspora Sector of the Division of International Scientific Cooperation is in close contact with about 100 Azerbaijani scientists living abroad and together with the Division of the Information of the Presidium's office, important work is being carried out to promote scientific achievements of both them and our other compatriots.

In conclusion, academician Arif Hashimov emphasized that these styled collegial meetings that could contribute to the development of Azerbaijani science will be held regularly.
