On March 1, a conference on “Let's protect our green world” was held under the joint organization of the ANAS Presidium and the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies of the Ministry of Science and Education which was attended by members of the Presidium of ANAS, MPs, full and corresponding members of the Academy, directors of ANAS and its scientific institutions and organizations.
Opening the conference academician Isa Habibbeyli, the president of ANAS pointed out that the event was held in accordance with the Decree of the head of the country on the declaration of 2024 as the “Year of Solidarity for the Green World”.
He said that ANAS has prepared an action plan in connection with this Decree and that today’s conference is the first event organized by the Academy within the framework of the “Year of Solidarity for the Green World.”
The head of ANAS noted that declaring this year the “Solidarity for the Green World” in our country is a strategic step planned for the development of “green” economy, “green” energy, and “green” technologies and the “green” world in a broader sense.
He emphasized the importance of introducing new, environmentally friendly energy sources in our modern world, which is faced with global environmental problems. He noted that a number of countries around the world consider ensuring energy security and the introduction of renewable alternative energy sources as their priorities.
At the event, the director of the Institute of Botany, professor Sayyara Ibadullayeva, spoke on the topic “Ways to ensure the sustainability of vegetation cover: protection of rare and endangered species”.
